22nd November, 1933.

With reference to your letter of the 11th September

(JB/JG) regarding the disposal of 1,000 military rifles

which were sent from this country to Belgium in 1932 under

the authority of Export Licence No.143771 for the purpose

of conversion from .303" to 7.9 mm. calibre, I am directed

by the Board of Trade to state that they do not desire

to raise any objection to the re-exportation of the

converted weapons from Belgium to Hong Kong provided that

you will furnish in advance a written undertaking that they

will not be re-exported from Hong Kong to any destination

unless the written consent of the Government of the Colony

has first been obtained. It is understood that the

proposal is to send the weapons "on consignment" to your

agents Messrs. Arnhold and Company, Limited, Hong Kong.
